Early childhood education is more than a career. It’s a chance to make a lifelong impact in the most important years of a child. As an educator, you nurture young minds, support emotional growth, and create safe, joyful spaces for learning and discovery. But it’s not just about play and care. It is a professional path that requires deep knowledge, strong skills, and a true commitment to ongoing learning. Early childhood educators are trained in child development, curriculum planning, communication, and inclusive practices. They reflect daily, adapt thoughtfully, and lead with both heart and expertise.
This is a role for people who are not only caring and creative, but also committed to excellence, growth, and meaningful work. You are part of a professional team. You build trusted relationships with families and help to shape the future – one child at a time.
If you’re looking for a career that blends purpose, passion, and professionalism, early childhood education is a powerful and rewarding choice.

A single, clear and fair wage grid was introduced in April 2023 for Early Childhood Educators across Nova Scotia. It helps ensure educators are paid based on their training and years of experience. This new structure supports professional growth, encourages educators to stay in the field, and recognizes the important work they do every day in licensed early learning programs.

All employees in provincially licensed and funded child-care centers including ECEs, directors, and support staff are covered under a comprehensive group benefits plan and a defined-benefit pension plan.
